Purpose/Goal:
The
purpose of this educational seminar is to describe managed care,
its impact both locally and nationally, and future trends in
healthcare arising from managed care practice.
Objectives:
By
the end of this module, you will be able to:

Define managed care.
2.
Discuss historical national and state HMO experiences.
3.
Identify future trends.
Biography:
Bruce
Deschere is a 1977 graduate of Wayne State University School
of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan. He trained in Family Practice
at Providence Hospital, Southfield, MI from 1977-1980 and worked
seven years in full-time private practice which included in-depth
experience in managed care while serving as CEO of a multi-specialty
group. He began teaching full time in 1987 directing a fellowship
and three residencies. He earned a MBA from Madonna University
in 1994. He is certified in Family Practice, Geriatrics, Primary
Care, Sports Medicine and in Quality Assurance/Utilization Review.
He currently direcst a rotation in community-oriented primary
care, access to care for the underserved and managed care. This
rotation is offered to trainees in Physician Assistant, Nurse
Practitioner, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics
and Pediatrics.
